Mama Makes: Double The Chocolate Cookies

For those times when you need a really great go-to cookie recipe up your sleeve, and for the days when all you can think about is chocolate (everyday) here is my favorite double chocolate chip cookie recipe.

The key to these perfectly gooey chocolate cookies is to leave them on the baking sheet for a good 20 minutes after you take them out of the oven. Trust me. Be patient. The soft fudgy chocolate goodness will be totally worth the wait!

Double Chocolate Cookies

8 tablespoons melted salted butter (melt over low heat in a saucepan, be careful not to get butter too hot)

1/2 c white sugar

1/4 packed light brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 egg

1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup cocoa powder

3/4 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350

Mix melted butter and sugars by hand with a whisk until combined well. Add vanilla and egg and mix again, but not too much. (If you mix too

much the cookies will bake stiff.)

Add flour, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips and stir with a spoon.

Divide into 12 medium balls, and set onto two baking sheets that have been very lightly rubbed with butter, or you can spray the sheet lightly with non-stick spray.

Lightly press down on each ball-just a tiny bit, you don't want huge flat disks when they're done baking.

Bake for 9-11 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheets, about 20 minutes. Really. Trust me, wait the entire 20 minutes.

Put the kids to bed, and enjoy guilt free!😋🍪
